Bob has over 20 years of experience in the collection, verification and reporting of industrial emissions in Scotland and the UK. He is a recognised national expert at the UK, European and International level on PRTR and industrial emissions.
He was a member and vice-chair of the OECD PRTR working group providing advice and knowledge of release estimation techniques, capacity building, releases from products and prioritising the work streams. He was also a bureau member and participant of the working group during the development of the UNECE PRTR Protocol and it's eventual ratification.
Bob is keen to use his experience for IPCC data collection and review, to help support the development of climate and net-zero reporting.
Projects include:
- Technical lead for a new comprehensive, mandatory facility-level GHG reporting program for Qatar, and integrating it as a pivotal component of the national GHG emissions MRV system.
- Review of the list of pollutants and their thresholds, and related guidance for the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Portal Regulation for the European Commission.
- Expert member of the European Topic Center for the European Environment Agency and its Action Plan work portfolio.
- Supporting the UK Government, DEFRA, in fulfilling its' Industrial Emissions registry collection and reporting obligations.
Outside of work, Bob enjoys being outdoors and can often be seen wandering around the Scottish Highlands. Otherwise you can find him pottering around in his garden or exercising in the local gym.
