Climate Change Consultant

Aether specialises in climate change data collection, processing and analysis and the development of transparent reporting systems that underpin the development and assessment of climate strategies, policies and action plans. Aether has a large portfolio of projects related to Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) in support of the Paris agreement and UNFCCC reporting mechanisms. We are also actively involved in several research programmes supporting the development of new approaches.

Our experience reflects many years of working in this field for the UK Government, the European Commission, UNFCCC, UNDP and other donors, and working directly for governments in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America.

As a result of the growth in our international climate change business, we are looking for Consultants to join our team.

The Role

The successful candidates will work with our company Directors and Business Area Leads to deliver across our portfolio of international projects and support new business development. You would be working closely with national consultants, supporting their development of greenhouse gas inventories and MRV systems, through capacity building and training. This can be very rewarding and often provides the opportunity to really make a difference. The role offers excellent career development opportunities to lead projects, expand our customer base, and develop innovative products and services.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Educated to at least degree level in a scientific subject (Masters preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience in the climate change area and previous experience of working in an environmental consulting environment
  • Experience in the successful delivery of international capacity building and training advantageous
  • Some experience of the economic assessment of policies and / or cost benefit analysis preferred 
  • Experience of working within different cultural environments with occasional travel overseas
  • Track record of business development and client engagement preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with a thorough attention to detail
  • Strong track record of project management and delivery including written reports, provision of datasets and presentations
  • Fluent English, additional language skills would be advantageous.

Aether offers an attractive remuneration and benefits package including:

  • Salary –up to £42,000 per annum dependent on experience
  • Annual leave, 32 days (bank holidays included)
  • Environmental leave: up to three days/year volunteering for environmental good causes
