Air Quality Consultant
Director, Associate Director, Principal, Senior
Aether is a niche environmental consultancy specialising in the compilation, reporting, and review of emission inventories and projections and the development of sectoral policies and measures at a city, regional and national level. We have built a strong reputation with customers and collaborators around the world by delivering innovation and technical excellence.
Aether specialises in air quality data collection, processing, analysis, and the development of systems that underpin the design and implementation of strategic air quality policies and measures. Aether has a large portfolio of projects related to the development of emission inventories and tools to support national governments with reporting commitments under the NECD and CLRTAP, as well as local-scale air quality management projects. We are also actively involved in research programmes supporting the development of the scientific understanding that underpins emissions inventories.
Our experience reflects many years of working in this field for the UK Government, the European Commission, CLRTAP, UNDP and other donors, and working directly for governments in Europe and Asia. In the private sector we work with property developers to undertake local scale air quality assessments.
As a result of the growth in our air quality business, we are looking for Consultants to join our team.
The Role
The successful candidates will work with our company Directors and Business Area Leads to deliver across our portfolio of international and UK projects and support new business development. You would be working closely with counterparts, supporting their development of air pollutant inventories, modelling, and/or policy support tools through capacity building and training. This can be very rewarding and often provides the opportunity to really make a difference. The role offers excellent opportunities to expand your air quality career to engage decision makers across international institutions, funding agencies, national governments, and local authorities.
Required Experience and Skills
We are seeking consultants who can operate in a small and dynamic consultancy.
Working alongside our founders we are looking for individuals who: have an understanding of priority air pollutant issues, can support the long-term development of technical teams, can gather and analyse data and produce high quality outputs, and are familiar with the broad commitments of countries under the CLRTAP and NECD, or local government’s commitments within the UK’s legislative framework.
As a data-led business, experience of managing data and accounting systems is desirable. We also welcome skills and capabilities in programme management, capacity building and communications to work alongside our data scientists.
As a ‘hands on’ business, the role could include directly working with clients around the world, delivering projects with complex stakeholder groups in international markets. Experience of project management, building client relationships and strong commercial acumen is critical. The preferred candidate will have developed a strong track record of presenting complexity in a way that is easily understood by clients and stakeholders, through both written and verbal formats in fluent English.
