Construction & Property Developers

Aether has many years of experience in undertaking fully integrated assessments for domestic, commercial and industrial developments.

Aether provides comprehensive environmental support to construction and development projects to ensure new developments meet planning requirements, protect local air quality, and achieve high standards of environmental performance.

Our specialists work with developers, planners, and industry partners to deliver compliant, low-carbon and future-resilient schemes across residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use sites.

Bringing together air quality science, building-performance modelling, and strategic sustainability guidance, our approach provides robust evidence for planning and enables clients to reduce environmental risk while maximising long-term sustainability outcomes across every stage of development.

See below for more information about the types of assessment that we undertake.

Core services

Air Quality Assessments

Aether has completed numerous air quality assessments in recent years, ranging from assessments for small-scale residential conversions to large mixed use developments.

Other examples include schools and nurseries, hospitals and hotels. These have been in the form of either screening assessments or detailed dispersion modelling, depending on the level of concern about air quality.

From project start, Aether liaises with both the client and local authority officers in order to determine the assessment requirements, enabling a fast turnaround of reports that adhere to best practice guidance.

Air Quality Monitoring

Where air quality modelling is inappropriate or inconclusive, Aether can conduct diffusion tube surveys.

Diffusion tubes are a simple way of monitoring nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations that allow a number of sites to be monitored over 6 months or longer time periods. This is beneficial compared to automatic monitors, which are expensive to set up and run.

The results can then be used to evaluate potential public exposure at relevant locations and appropriate mitigation put in place if required.

Noise Assessments

Aether works with associates who can provide acoustics and noise assessments in the area surrounding your site.

Noise measurements are taken over a 24 hours period using a calibrated sound meter. The acoustic consultants are Members of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA), and can undertake environmental noise assessments for planning purposes.

This includes liaising with both the client and local authority officers in order to determine the assessment requirements, enabling a fast turnaround of reports that adhere to best practice guidance.
