Aether and ENDS launch the environment tools directory

16 February 2010

Press release: New directory offers first dynamic platform for finding and comparing Environmental Accounting Tools

Aether and ENDS have today launched the UK’s first searchable independent marketplace for carbon and environmental accounting tools. www.environmenttools.co.uk  This is an important initiative in a growing area.  Almost all organisations now use tools of some kind to manage or report data on carbon, energy, polluting emissions and other environmental data.  This website will be the world's first comprehensive directory for all kinds of environmental accounting tools and by far the best source for locating, comparing and discussing the fast growing number of tools that are available.

According to a new report, the carbon management software market was estimated at $132 million in 2009 and is predicted to reach $1.2 billion by 2017[1]. This is primarily as a result of the market capitalising on businesses and other organisations’ twin aims of reducing costs and improving their environmental credentials.  However, Aether’s experience has shown that users can find it hard to choose from the plethora of tools available.

The free directory currently lists 320 tools and more than 90 people have already registered on the site.  It provides search facilities that enable users including businesses, public sector organisations, schools and individuals to filter and find relevant tools.  Users can also add more tools and ratings and reviews, generating a unique source of opinion and guidance to support intelligent business decisions. The Directory also enables users to be notified about developments of existing or new tools.

To enhance the free listings, dynamic tailored advertising space is available for service providers wishing to enhance their profile on the Environment Tools Directory.
