Air Quality Assessment for the proposed development Temple Cowley, Oxford

31 May 2018

Aether has recently completed an air quality assessment for the proposed redevelopment of an office block on Barns Road in Temple Cowley. Given that Oxford City Council has declared the whole city an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) due to exceedances of the annual mean nitrogen dioxide (NO2) objective, the council required an air quality assessment to ensure the protection of residents from poor air quality.

The assessment used the dispersion model ADMS roads to assess the pollutant concentrations both without and with development. No exceedances of the air quality objectives were predicted, however Aether suggested various mitigation measures which may be implemented in order to minimise the development's impact on local air quality.
