Air quality neutral assessment

06 April 2016

Aether was asked to undertake an air quality neutral assessment for a proposed residential development in Greenwich.

London Plan Policy 7.14 requires development proposals within Greater London to be at least ‘air quality neutral’ and not lead to further deterioration of existing poor air quality (such as areas designated as Air Quality Management Areas). A method for assessing this is outlined in the Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG), April 2014. New major developments must meet these benchmarks, or implement mitigation measures to reduce emissions either on-site or off-site.

Estimated building emissions were compared against the benchmarks provided in the Guidance and were found to be compliant. A transport assessment was not required.
