Overview

We build strong teams to match specific needs

Since founding Aether we have developed strong links with many associates and organisations. We are members of influential groups to support national and international decision making.

When building teams for projects we can draw on a wide range of skills and expertise across Europe and globally.

UK Government

Aether is active in shaping the UK national emissions inventories

Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG)

Aether contributes to the Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG,) a prestigious UK Government advisory group. Chris Dore provides expertise in the emissions inventory field and also contributes on a wide range of aspects of air quality in the UK.

iAQEG

Aether staff are part of a Defra group that advises UK government on their approach to working within the CLRTAP and more generally in the international arena, including outreach to countries around the world.

NAEI steering groups

Aether sits on both the national UK air quality emissions inventory steering group (AQ-ISG) and greenhouse gas emissions inventory committee (NISC). Input to these helps to prioritise improvements to the UK National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory (NAEI).

International

Aether is represented on many international expert groups and panels

CLRTAP

Aether is funded by the UK Government to provide leading roles in the organisation and management of the Task Force on Emissions Inventories and Projections (TFEIP), including the role of Chair, secretariat and expert panels. We plan and lead the development of the science that underpins AQ emissions inventories through the annual meeting of the expert network and the EMEP/EEA Guidebook.

European Commission

Our work with the various DGs of the European Commission often involves attending and presenting at technical and policy meetings with Member States.

European Environment Agency's European Topic Centres (ETC)

Aether contributes to this large programme of technical work for the EEA, with many other organisations from across Europe. The work requires specialists to deliver key technical information, data analysis and policy support services to the EEA, including through the European Environment Information and Observation Network.

UNDP

Aether staff are members of the Global Policy Network Experts Roster for Rapid Response (GPN/ExpRes), which is a consultant deployment mechanism that maintains pre-vetted consultants for quick support to UNDP Country Offices and Units.

UNFCCC

Many of our technical staff are on the UNFCCC Roster of Experts for reviews of national GHG emissions inventories. Aether staff are also lead reviewers, attending the lead reviewers meetings and expert panels for developing IPCC Guidance on GHG emissions inventories.

UNOPS

Aether is part of Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), a global network of expert partners. ICAT provides countries with tailored support and practical tools and methodologies to build the robust transparency frameworks needed for effective climate action aligned with national development priorities.
