I support national governments, cities and local authorities to understand and calculate their emissions of greenhouse gases and air quality pollutants through inventory compilation, training and capacity building

Kirsten May, Principal Consultant

Kirsten is a consultant with experience in inventory compilation and the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of greenhouse gases and air quality pollutants. She has a detailed knowledge of core inventory compilation procedures, at both the national and local authority / city scale, which she applies through training and capacity building internationally. Kirsten also applies this knowledge to support international inventory review processes acting as secretariat and quality control support.

Recently Kirsten has been developing online platforms for greenhouse gas MRV to enable countries to store, track and analyse actions on climate change through the design and implementation of an online climate action monitoring and evaluation system.

Currently, Kirsten is supporting local authorities and cities in the UK to respond to climate emergency declarations and develop emission trajectories to achieve carbon neutral.

Additionally, Kirsten conducts air quality assessments, utilising her experience with GIS and ADMS dispersion modelling, and air quality monitoring diffusion tube surveys.

Kirsten received a BSc in Geography from the University of Bristol where she specialised in Environmental Policy and the application of climate data to different spatial modelling systems.
