Senior Sustainability Consultant
Aether is a niche environmental consultancy specialising in the compilation, reporting, and review of emission inventories and projections and the development of sectoral policies and measures for both the public and private sector globally.
Our experience reflects many years of working in this field for the UK Government, the European Commission, UNFCCC, UNDP and other donors, and working directly for governments in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. In the private sector we work across a broad range of sectors including hospitality, entertainment, transport and community development.
Aether specialises in climate change data collection, processing and analysis and the development of transparent reporting systems that underpin the development and assessment of climate strategies, policies and action plans. Our growth has seen us broaden our specialisms to include wider social, environmental, and economic impact analysis for our clients.
We are therefore seeking to further expand our support to our clients to enhance capabilities in social and environmental sustainability, with a particular focus on social impact, gender and inclusivity.
The Role
The successful candidates will work with our company Directors and Business Area Leads to deliver across our portfolio of international projects and support new business development in sustainability advisory services.
Primarily the role will focus on supporting our private sector markets with sustainability advisory services. The role will include undertaking sustainability assessments of community development projects, and supporting corporations in developing strategies and reporting on sustainability. The role will also require a good understanding on corporate requirements for climate change reporting, especially Taskforce for Carbon Related Financial Disclosures.
You would be working closely with national consultants, supporting their development of greenhouse gas inventories and MRV systems, to respond to the needs of gender and inclusivity. This will include enhancing Aether’s wider impact analysis capability with your knowledge of social and environmental sustainability.
This can be very rewarding and often provides the opportunity to really make a difference. The role offers excellent opportunities to expand your climate change career to engage decision makers across international institutions, funding agencies and decision makers.

Working alongside our founders we are looking for individuals who: have an understanding of the signals coming from climate science, can support the long-term development of technical teams, can gather and analyse data and produce high quality outputs, and are familiar with the broad commitments of countries under the Paris Agreement.
As a data-led business, experience of managing data is critical. We welcome skills and capabilities in programme management, capacity building and communications to work alongside our data scientists.
This role is client facing, and will require good project management capability, experience financial budgeting and client relationship management.
