Aether have won another contract to help the Irish EPA compile their national emissions inventory (Aether provided technical support to the EPA to help with the emissions inventory last year). Emma Salisbury will be based in Monaghan, working with the EPA inventory team.

Emissions of PM0.1

At the beginning of June, Chris Dore and Emma Salisbury helped to run a workshop on PM0.1 emissions for the European Commission. There is an ever increased focus on the finer end of the PM spectrum, and the EC want to better understand the emissions arising from industrial activities.

Emission estimates of PM0.1

Aether are making emission estimates of PM0.1 for the EU27 as part of a project for the European Commission. A simple methodology has been used to generate headline emission estimates, which will be released shortly.

Inventory Review Training

Having been nominated to the roster of experts by the UK government, Chris has been undertaking training so that he can qualify as a UNFCCC emission inventory reviewer.

The European Commission are in the process of revising the National Emissions Ceilings Directive. This will set limits on national pollutant emissions in the form of emission “ceilings”. Countries will need to reduce their emissions to below these ceilings by 2020.
